My spiritual journey of late has been really confusing...it's been a matter of fishing through a pile of stuff to find what's real and of value...what's salvageable. Being a follower of Christ is so confusing and complicated sometimes. I love reverting back to the simple truths of Christianity: God loves us and is always there. Jesus was sent to pay the ultimate price and lived the ultimate life...it's a good idea to try and do what he did and follow his examples. I've found that nature speaks in such a spiritual way to me because it's so simple...how can you not see the presence of something bigger than yourself when you look at nature? It's obvious. It's simple. Anyways...I was listening to the always awesome Sufjan Stevens the other day and found a song that I've been listening to a lot lately as an encouragement in the confusion...and a reminder that things are fundamentally simple.

I hear you about the simplicity of nature opening your eyes in new ways no matter how many times you've looked at the same stretch of land or water etc. I think I've started looking forward to fall conference for BSU more for that simple time I spend looking out over the ocean standing in awe than anything that happens inside the walls of the confernece center.
We should get together and talk. I'd love to hear what's been going on in your spiritual journey this summer and mine...well, yeah.

I red that some of his songs have spiritual allusions. I think Vito's Ordination Song is one of them. But, What do you think about "John Wayne Gayce Jr.", a serial killer, specilly the line "And in my best behavior

In Vito's, Sufjan sings in first person and, in the context of the lyrics, he seems to song like God.
Without a doubt, this is one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard.

Vito's Ordination Song is about the ordination of presbyterian pastor and friend of Sufjan, named Vito Aiuto. He is the senior pastor at a church in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The church name is Resurrection Presbyterian, Sufjan is in regular attendance at this church. Also, Vito is the lead singer of a band called the Welcome Wagon. They released an album called "Welcome to the Wagon" of which have many spiritual themes to there songs (the album was produced by Sufjan too). Hope this helps in some way shape and form.
